Q: What is a "Rush" party?
A: A rush party is a social gathering sponsored by a Greek organization to provide information about the sorority/fraternity and a chance to get to know the members.

Q: Who is invited to a Phi Lambda Phi Rush party?
A: Phi Lambda Phi sorority extends an open invitation to all independent women enrolled at SUNY Oswego. The sorority has two Rush parties per semester.

Q: Are there any obligations associated with attending a Phi Lamb rush?
A: Absolutely not. There is no obligation whatsoever to pledge the sorority. A rush party is meant to be a source of information about the sorority and an opportunity to ask questions and meet sorority sisters. Rush parties are free of charge and rides are provided to and from the event.

Q: What can I expect of attending a Rush event?
A: You can expect to meet the current sisters of Phi Lambda Phi and be treated as a welcome guest of our home. You can expect to receive answers to questions regarding pledging and sorority history. You will receive a tour of the house.

Q: What can joining a sorority do for me?
A: Let's talk real life. What are your plans after college? Have you heard the best way to get a job is through "Networking"? How do you start?

Think of all the people you will meet through a social organization. Upon graduation - put your contacts to work for you.

You can also gain coveted "real life" experience; Run for office - the experience you gain as President, Fund-Raiser, or other office within an organization becomes resume-building experience.

Corporations will look for experience or associations that set potential candidates apart from the pack. Many Human Resources departments scan resumes for key words.

It is also important to demonstrate an ability to be graceful in social situations. If you are thinking of a career in communications or business - think of how important it is to sharpen your interpersonal skills.

Companies invest in Executives that have high energy, can adjust their personal style to any personality type, and excel at the art of "small-talk".

Joining a Greek organization is a great way to gain a competitive edge, while improving your social skills, getting real-life experience, and  having fun along the way.
